Ernst Ludwig Winnacker

Professor Ernst Ludwig Winnacker is one of the major research funders in Europe. The biochemist was from 1998 to late 2006 at the head of the German Research Foundation (DFG). From 2007 to mid 2009 Winnacker was the first Secretary General of the European Research Council (ERC), which should drive from Brussels, the realization of the "European Research Area". Currently, Winnacker in Strasbourg as Secretary General of the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO) active. Founded in 1989 HFSPO promotes international research in the life sciences, and will thereby improve in particular the promotion of young scientists.
