22. TWS symposium in Erlangen

Meeting great success for HSP research

22. TWS symposium with record number of participants

From March 6-8, 2024, the scientific symposium on HSP research, jointly organized by TWS and the treatHSP-Network, took place at the University Hospital Erlangen.
Together with 115 participants from all over the world (USA, Brazil, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Netherlands), we experienced an incredibly inspiring and encouraging meeting.
The days were characterized by exciting presentations from top researchers in HSP research and the lively exchange between all participants. Young students were given the opportunity to present their work as posters. Thirty-seven young scientists took the chance to win the TWS triple poster prize worth €300.
The TWS Research Award and the Adolf Struempell Prize of the Euro-HSP Federation were also presented at the 22nd TWS Symposium.
The symposium was also a great success thanks to the excellent cooperation with the Erlangen team! We would like to thank Prof. Jürgen Winkler, Prof. Beate Winner, PD Dr. Martin Regensburger, PD Dr. Heiko Gaßner and Jasmin Fischbeck for their commitment, ideas and organization.
The event was rounded off by the cultural program on the evening of 7 March. As part of the "Von Strümpell Ceremony", historical insights into medicine in the time of Adolf von Strümpell and the start of HSP research initiated by him in Erlangen 140 years ago were provided in the orangery belonging to the University Hospital.
